Welcome to the Ennis Taekwon-Do School web page. We teach Taekwon-Do as founded, taught and developed by General Choi Hong Hi, IX Degree.

Instructors, Mr. Kevin Kinsella VI Dan, Ms Anne Marie Kinsella  V Dan and Mr Michael Clune III Dan have years of Taekwon-Do experience and also hold qualifications from the Irish Sports Council.

Classes are held in the Ennis National school. These classes cater for children, teens and adults from beginner right up to advanced levels.

The ITA are holding a National Umpire Course on Sunday October 24th 2010 in Quin Taekwon-Do Club, Quin Community Centre, Co. Clare.

The course will be conducted by ITA Umpire Chairperson, Mr. Stephen Ryan 5th Dan, International A Class Umpire.

It is open to all members 16 years and above (non ITA members also welcome).

All black belts who complete the course will receive official ITA umpire certification and colour belts will receive a participation certificate. The cost of the course is 30 Euro per person.

Training of our umpires is key to making tournaments more professional, enjoyable, fair and safe for all participants. Please do your best to support this event.



We are delighted to announce that Mr Michael Clune 2nd Dan has accepted the position of Assistant Instructor at the Ennis Taekwon-Do School.

Mr. Clune began his Taekwon-Do career in 2001and graded to 2nd Dan on June 29th 2010. 

He has completed an impressive 9 International Instructor Courses from which he has amassed a wealth of technical knowledge.

He is also a regular contributor to the International magasine Totally Taekwon-Do.

We heartily welcome him on board and look forward to working with him in the future.




We will be presenting the proceeds of our June Sponsored walk to Mr Gerry Culley from Crumlin Hospital on Saturday13th November at the Ennis National School at 11.45am.  All welcome. 

A big thank you to the other Clare schools, instructors and parents who participated.

A special thanks to Ennis students who raised €1850.00.                                                                          



There will be a Krav Maga seminar hosted by Mr Adrian Byrne in Stonehall, Shannon next Saturday 2nd October from

10am - 2pm.  The seminar will be conducted by Mr. Oliver Sweeney and will cover all aspects of the ITA self defense syllabus. Cost is €20.00..

This year, our annual Summer hamper which was raffled at our last class before the break was won by a very surprised and delighted Doireann Kinsella.

Both students and instructors are now on a well deserved holiday after a very busy Taekwon-Do year.

Classes will resume early September.



The Irish Taekwon-Do Association Summer black belt grading took place in Quin Taekwon-Do Club.on Saturday 26th and Sunday 27th June.  We are delighted and extremely proud to report that all four Ennis TKD candidates were successful.

Ms. Angela Keane, Mr. Michael Clune and Mr. Alan Higgins all promoted to 2nd Degree.  Mr. John Moriarty promoted to 1st Degree.   A huge congratulations to you all.

A total of 22 candidates were promoted at the black belt testing. Three achieved 3rd Dan, five 2nd Dan and fourteen 1st Dan.

The examiners panel on Saturday was Master Wheatley 7th Dan, Mr. Pat Barry 6th Dan and Mr. Mark Buckley 6th Dan.The panel on Sunday was again chaired by Master Wheatley with Mr. Stephen Ryan 5th Dan, Mr. Adrian Byrne 5th Dan, Mr. Donal O'Donoghue 4th Dan and Mr. Hong Keat Looi 4th Dan.   Ms Anne Marie Kinsella 4th Dan was the narrator on both days.

Congratulations also to all the other successful students especially our close friends in Quin..

It was a very special occasion for Mr Stephen Ryan, chief intructor of Quin TKD as he had three students promoted to 1st Degree, Nicole Moriarty, Aine Cregan and Nicola Monaghan.  These were the first students to go through the club from white belt to black belt.  Also after performing excellently, assistant instructor  Ms Laura Cullen promoted to 3rd Degree.
